More on Dual Club Participation: 

There are a range of organizational structures in the various communities that PARAGON Co-op. Co. serves. 

Therefore, the definitive test is the legal formation of the other organization. 

If it’s a group, then although they have patches or even “club” in their name: we would legally consider it a group. 

If the other organization is a fully formed business entity (eg: LLC, Corporation or 501c3); then it would be a conflict. 

Why? 

According to one source: 

“Nonprofit directors who are appointed to serve on a board of directors by another nonprofit face a particular form of conflict. If an individual is a director on both the appointing board and the receiving board, an inherent conflict exists because the director owes a duty of loyalty to both organizations.”

Regrettably, that is challenge we want to mitigate. 

A concrete example:  PARAGON & (insert other entity)  may both be non-profits, and competing for the same grant  or fundraising source (eg: Sponsor).
